Little Italy | San Diego

Happy spring break friends! Have you had your spring break yet? Mine started on April 1st and it was MUCH NEEDED!
Although now that it's over I can't believe how early it came this year. Typically every year it seems like spring break is around mid April. But never the less spring break came and I conquered it! Well I conquered the first half, the second half consisted of a lot of working but I'm glad I planned it out that way.
Dylan and I planned to go to San Diego together as a fun and easy mini vacation. We are about an hour away from San Diego meaning it would be easy to drive there. We decided to purchase an airBnB to stay in so that it would have more of a home feeling rather than a hotel. If you don't know, an airBnB is basically an apartment/house that someone rents out on the airBnB website for people to stay in during their vacations. (Look forward to a future post where I'll go in depth about my first experience using an airBnB.
Our airBnB was about two streets up from Little Italy and honestly felt like the perfect location. The first day we were able to walk down to Little Italy and eat at an Italian restaurant for dinner. The only frustrating part about the first day was it was Easter so a lot of places were closed. The ones left open were super intimidating Italian places but I ended up just getting spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. After dinner we treated ourselves to going to a dessert place called iDessert. This was one of those places I could really see in Las Vegas and felt pretty out of place here but never the less it tasted delicious. You basically order your dessert on an iPad and you're given several things to choose from. We decided on making our own dessert that consisted of gelato, cream, and a meringue like shell. It was one of the richest chocolates I've ever tasted, but definitely needs to be eaten in moderation because the sugar high would come super quick.

The second day we didn't have much planned and I loved that! I woke up around 7 am and sat in bed searching through yelp for somewhere to eat breakfast. I found a cute place called Breakfast Republic in East Village. It was probably around a 35 minute walk from our apartment but it didn't feel bad at all. The restaurant was extremely delicious. I got french toast stuffed with peanut butter and topped with bananas and bacon. It was savory and sweet and all sorts of delicious.
After this we walked around the town looking for things to do. We found ourselves on the USS Midway Museum. I didn't realize how interesting museums get when you're older and can actually appreciate whats going on. It was really fascinating and if you get the chance I highly recommend checking it out. Not to mention the massive kissing statue is right next to it and you could get this clichĂ© picture like Dylan and I! After this we took a stop at a burger shop in Little Italy and Salt & Straw for  scoop of the best ice cream EVER! Hours later after resting and trying to make our bellies super hungry we headed on over to the Melting Pot for a cute and romantic dinner.

The third and final day we headed out of our airBnB and off to the San Diego zoo. Animals are honestly so amazing and I always love a good trip to the zoo. The San Diego zoo is a non profit and works towards helping almost extinct animals from completely disappearing. Finally at the end of the day Dylan and I enjoyed a Padres game as our first baseball game together!

Thanks so much for reading about this wonderful spring break! What's your favorite spring break memory? Leave a comment down below and don't forget to subscribe so you can be updated every time I post a blog!
