Hidden Mickey T-shirt

Saturday, September 23, 2017

I meant to make an update post a couple weeks back to let you all know I'd be a bit busy for some time but that didn't happen... I guess you could tell since I haven't posted in a while...

Well good news: I'm back! Quick update though, I MOVED! Yup my family just bought a new house to accommodate everyone and it is beyond exciting! Don't worry, I'll have a post all about my new room up soon!

Now onto todays DIY! I don't know about you all but I love wearing Disney inspired outfits to Disneyland because why not!! It is the perfect place to let the kid in you shine. However some days I'd rather the outfit be a little more casual but still have the disney flare to it and I think I found the absolute best way for this: polka dot shirt with hidden mickeys!!

This DIY is super easy but it does take some time since you have to wait for the paint to dry before continuing to the next section but I promise it is worth it!

What you will need!

  • Plain white t-shirt! (I got mine from target on sale!)
  • Black fabric paint
  • Circular sponge paintbrush
  • Cardboard (to put in between the shirt so the paint doesn't bleed through!

How to make!

  1. Lay your white shirt on a flat surface and put the cardboard in it
  2. Pour some paint on a paper plate or piece of card board
  3. Carefully dip the paint brush into the paint, I would dab it onto my cardboard prior to putting it on the shirt because I wanted a light layer of paint to go on so that the polka dots weren't completely perfect
  4. Add polka dots every where! Then put a mickey where you see fit! Making the Mickey head is easy, I recommend doing the body first then adding two more circles on the top for ears. If the shape doesn't seem proportional move you paint brush around until you get the perfect shape! Try this out on the plate first so you don't mess up on the shirt!
  5. Finish every inch of this shirt! Remember this is YOUR creation so it is going to look perfect because YOU made it!
  6. Style it with a cute black circle skirt or some overalls like I did! Oh and don't forget your Mickey ears for the finishing touch!!

There are so many changes you could make to this like changing the shirt and paint color so go make it your own! If you do make this DIY make sure to tag me so I can see it!!
